The Bugzi is a powered indoor wheelchair for children aged one to six. If offers a unique opportunity for pre-school children with disabilities to experience independent mobility for the first time in their lives.
Mobility is a basic function of human beings and starts in the first year of life. As soon as we are able to crawl we start to investigate, touch and taste everything we find, interacting with the people, objects and space around us. By the time we can walk we have already travelled many miles under our own steam, fallen over, bumped our head and made friends and learned where to find our favorite toys.
Why do children need a Bugzi?
Bugzi enables non-mobile children to have more of these vital formative experiences. It helps them to share in the exploration, discovery and excitement of being mobile.
Bugzi is adaptable to their varied and changing needs.
The design is based on a carefully researched learning process which guides children at their own pace from single switch operation to full joystick control. Equally important it appeals to children in a toy-like way which is a key motivator – it looks fun so they want to have a go.
Studies show that independent mobility positively influences:-
